Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The South Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police arrested 11 Chinese citizens for allegedly running an online scam operation while posing as Wuhan police officers from a rented house in Cilandak, South Jakarta.
"We arrested 11 foreign citizens suspected of committing online fraud by impersonating law enforcement through video calls," said South Jakarta Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Nicolas Ary Lilipaly, at a press conference on Wednesday (30/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com..
The case was uncovered after local residents reported suspicious behavior, including unpaid neighborhood dues and secrecy around the house, which had been rented since March 2025. The suspects had prohibited household staff from accessing the upper floors, where the scam took place.
Authorities confiscated 27 phones, 10 iPads, one laptop, Mandarin-language documents, and a Wuhan police uniform. The group entered Indonesia on valid visas but is now charged under immigration and electronic transaction laws for fraud and visa misuse.
