inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police sent 12 trucks of humanitarian aid to earthquake-affected communities in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Monday (8/17/2026). The aid was seen off by Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Chief, Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri, at approximately 12:30 p.m. 

The supplies consisted of various basic necessities, including mineral water, ready-to-eat foods for adults and toddlers, instant noodles, sardines, baby food, ready-to-drink drinks, snacks, blankets and sarongs, sleeping mats, and plastic tarps of various sizes.

"We extend our deepest condolences for the people affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara. We hope this assistance can ease the burden, provide benefits, and support our brothers and sisters who are facing this tragedy," said Asep.

After the dispatch, all the supplies were taken to Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base for further departure to East Nusa Tenggara. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police has also coordinated with the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police to determine distribution priorities based on the needs of the affected areas.

The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, hopes that the aid will be immediately utilized by the affected communities.

"We hope this aid will be distributed quickly to the affected communities so that it can be used quickly and provide benefits according to needs on the ground," said Budi.

The aid distribution coincided with the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

"On the momentum of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, we remain focused on unity, mutual cooperation, and a sense of shared destiny. Independence is not only to be celebrated, but also to be realized as a shared responsibility as one nation," added Budi.
