The Banjarmasin Sub-regional Police, confiscated 1.4 kilograms (kg) of methamphetamine and 62.5 ecstasy pills from 40 drug busts during Operation Antik Intan 2026, which took place from May 12-25, 2026, as part of an effort to disrupt drug trafficking in the capital of South Kalimantan.
This evidence was one of the largest hauls secured by the Banjarmasin Police during the 14-day operation, preventing drug trafficking that could potentially reach tens of thousands of residents.
Acting Banjarmasin Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Timbul R.K. Siregar stated that the Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit successfully uncovered 40 drug cases and arrested dozens of perpetrators during Operation Antik Intan 2026.
"During Operation Antik from May 12 to May 25, 2026, we successfully uncovered 40 drug cases," said Timbul, Friday (6/5/2026).
He said that as a result of these arrests, police arrested 53 suspects, consisting of 47 men and six women. The suspects are suspected of having different roles in the drug trafficking network, ranging from users to dealers.
In addition to arresting the suspects, officers also confiscated evidence in the form of 1,457.70 grams of methamphetamine and 62.5 ecstasy pills, which were suspected of being destined for distribution in several areas of Banjarmasin City and the surrounding areas.
"Based on the results of this disclosure, we have successfully saved approximately 21,928 lives from the threat of drug trafficking, particularly methamphetamine," said Timbul.
According to him, the economic value of the seized evidence reached more than IDR 2 billion. This disclosure not only reduced the supply of narcotics in the community but also prevented economic losses caused by the distribution of these illicit goods.
"This means that from the 1,457.70 grams of methamphetamine and 62.5 ecstasy pills that were successfully seized, we were able to save the state around IDR 2 billion," he added.
Investigators are currently working to uncover a broader network, including tracing the involvement of repeat offenders who have re-engaged in drug trafficking in Banjarmasin City.
