inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. PT Kereta Api Indonesia Operational Area 8 of Surabaya predicts that more than 152,000 people will use train services during the long holiday of Ascension of Jesus Christ, from May 28 to June 1, 2025.

"The number consists of 77,016 passengers departing and 75,261 people arriving (at the destination station), and that number can continue to increase until the end of the holiday," said KAI Daop 8 Surabaya Public Relations Manager Luqman Arif in his statement, in Surabaya, as quoted by Antaranews on Friday (5/30/2025).

He explained that the prediction was calculated based on booking data and passenger realization since Wednesday (5/28/2025), as well as the trend of increasing number of passengers in the following days.

According to him, until Friday (5/30) at 11.00 WIB, 27,479 passengers were recorded using train services in Surabaya, consisting of 12,675 passengers departing and 14,804 passengers arriving at the destination station.

In fact, he said, the number could continue to increase as the train departure and arrival schedules continue until the evening.

Furthermore, according to Luqman, the increase in passenger volume had begun to be seen on Wednesday (5/28), with 34,073 passengers recorded using trains in Surabaya, with details of 19,347 passengers departing and 14,726 passengers arriving.

Meanwhile, on Thursday (5/29), the number of passengers jumped to 40,664 people, consisting of 20,049 passengers arriving and the rest departing from a number of stations in the area.

"The increase in the number of customers during this long holiday shows that trains remain the main choice for people to travel, both for religious purposes, family vacations, and other activities," he said.
