inp.polri.go.id - West Sumatra. The West Sumatra Provincial Government sent 2.1 tons of rendang to help meet the food needs of disaster-affected communities and to support officers on duty in the field.
The aid, a Minangkabau specialty, was handed over directly by West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah while in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"This aid demonstrates our concern and solidarity with the disaster-affected communities," said Mahyeldi in a statement received in Padang on Tuesday (August 25, 2026).
The aid distribution was centered at two locations: the National Logistics Post of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in Labuan Bajo and Manggarai Regency.
At the BNPB National Logistics Post, the aid was received by BNPB Deputy for Logistics Andi Eviana, along with BNPB Deputy for Preparedness and Commander of the AJU I Post in Labuan Bajo, Major General Luthfie.
Meanwhile, 500 kilograms of rendang were sent directly to Manggarai Regency using a Susi Air flight facilitated by the BNPB.
The aid was received by Manggarai Regent Herybertus Geradus Laju Nabit, accompanied by BNPB's Deputy for Prevention, Dr. Abdul Muhari.
Mahyeldi stated that the aid demonstrates the community's and the West Sumatra Provincial Government's concern for the people of NTT who are facing a difficult situation due to the disaster.
"This is a form of solidarity and concern as fellow citizens. We hope this aid can help meet the food needs of the affected community," he said.
In addition to providing for disaster victims, rendang is expected to provide food supplies for officers still struggling in the field for the next few days.
The selection of rendang as food aid was also not without reason. This West Sumatran specialty is known for its relatively long shelf life, making it practical for distribution in emergencies and disaster situations.
Mahyeldi also expressed his appreciation to BNPB for assisting with the aid distribution process, including facilitating the delivery of rendang to Manggarai Regency by air.
