inp.polri.go.id - East Lombok. A total of 359 inmates at the Class IIB Selong Penitentiary (Lapas) have been proposed for general remission in commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence after meeting the required conditions.

The Head of the Class IIB Selong Penitentiary in East Lombok, Sudirman, stated that all proposals are still undergoing verification at the Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.

"All the proposals we submitted have gone through a thorough verification and validation process," he said on Wednesday (8/5/2026).

According to Sudirman, if approved, the remissions will be granted simultaneously on August 17, 2026.

According to data as of August 4, 2026, the number of inmates at the Class IIB Selong Penitentiary reached 521, consisting of 401 convicts and 120 detainees.

Of these inmates, 359 were declared eligible for general remission, with a reduction in sentence length of between one and six months.

The 176 inmates proposed for remission are inmates who meet the requirements of Government Regulation Number 99 of 2012, consisting of 173 inmates for narcotics cases and three inmates for corruption cases.

Sudirman stated that all proposals were submitted through the Correctional Database System and have met both administrative and substantive requirements, including good behavior and active participation in the rehabilitation program.

He hopes the remission will motivate inmates to continue undergoing rehabilitation and prepare themselves to return to society as better individuals.
