inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that currently 46 people have been named as suspects in the forest and land fires in Riau.
"Several law enforcement activities have also been carried out. The Chief of Riau Regional Police reported earlier that 46 suspects have been detained and are being processed for arson, whether intentional or negligent, resulting in the burning of approximately 280 hectares of land," explained the Chief of INP on Thursday (7/24/2025).
He also stated that the Forest and Land Fire Task Force has made various efforts to extinguish the fires. He hopes these efforts will soon yield results.
"The team's efforts, from water bombing to modifying the OMC (Communication Management System), are continuing. Hopefully, the OMC can function optimally, so we hope for rain in the near future, especially in hotspots," said the Chief of Police.
General Sigit also stated that his team will deploy helicopters to extinguish fires in several areas.
"However, on the other hand, there are areas in Rokan Hulu that are in hilly areas and can only be reached using water bombing. It was also announced that helicopters will be added to carry out water bombing in the near future. Hopefully, this will help extinguish the fires soon," he concluded.
