A Member of Armed Criminal Group in Timika Arrested by Authorities, Measured Firm Action Taken

inp.polri.go.id - Timika. The 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force arrested a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) with the initials TJ alias K alias AW on Sunday (4/26/2026) morning at around 10:56 a.m. in the SP 2 area of ​​Timika Regency. 

TJ is known to be on the Wanted Persons List (DPO) in connection with the shooting of a civilian identified as Ahmad Gunawan.

The shooting occurred on February 12, 2026, at the Ilu Community Health Center intersection in Puncak Jaya Regency, resulting in the victim's death. The Head of Public Relations for the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, explained that the action was carried out through a measured process based on intensive monitoring in the field.

"The arrest was made after the team conducted surveillance and successfully identified the perpetrator in the SP 2 Timika. When apprehended, he resisted officers and attempted to flee into the surrounding forest. Officers pursued him and took firm and measured action, striking him on the left leg," he explained.

He added that after his arrest, the perpetrator was immediately taken to the Bhayangkara Timika Hospital for medical treatment before undergoing further questioning and investigation by investigators. 

Yusuf also revealed that the perpetrator was part of the KKB Mewoluk group led by Ternus Enumbi, who has been known to actively move from Puncak Jaya, Beoga, Intan Jaya, to Mimika, in order to evade security forces and seek additional weapons and ammunition.

The Head of the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani, added that the action demonstrates the authorities' commitment to enforcing the law against perpetrators of armed violence.

"The arrest of these fugitives demonstrates our commitment to maintaining security and protecting the public. Any perpetrators of violent acts will be prosecuted professionally in accordance with applicable law," he said.
