Ahead of the National Religious Holidays (HKBN) of Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri, the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police Food Task Force conducted unannounced inspections at several markets in Kupang City on Thursday (3/12/2026). This activity was carried out to monitor prices and ensure the availability of staple food for the public.
The inspections were carried out at Naikoten Inpres Market and Oeba Market, involving several relevant agencies, including representatives from the NTT Provincial Government, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Animal Husbandry, the Department of Fisheries, the NTT High Prosecutor's Office, the NTT Representative Office of Bank Indonesia, and members of the NTT Regional Police Food Task Force.
The Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the NTT Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Hans Rachmatulloh Irawan, stated that the activity aimed to anticipate price spikes and ensure the smooth distribution of basic necessities ahead of the holidays.
Hans stated that the inspections found no commodities being sold above the highest retail price (HET) or the government's reference price. His team will continue to monitor prices with relevant agencies to maintain price stability and prevent hoarding of staple goods.
