inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) ensured the readiness of national infrastructure to handle the 2026 Eid homecoming and return flows.
"The infrastructure used during this year's Eid homecoming and return flows is indeed our focus," said Coordinating Minister AHY on Friday (3/13/2026).
The government, he said, has been working intensively over the past month to ensure that land, sea, and air transportation can be used safely and smoothly by the public.
AHY explained that the government's primary focus is on the condition of roads, which serve as the primary routes for travelers.
Through coordination with the Ministry of Public Works, various road repairs and improvements are being made, particularly on main routes and arterial roads.
"The infrastructure used during the homecoming and return flows has been our focus for the past month. The Ministry of Public Works has been carrying out road repairs, both on main roads and arterial roads that will carry travelers to various regencies and cities across Java and parts of Sumatra," explained AHY.
In addition to ensuring road conditions, the government is also taking precautionary measures against potential disasters that could disrupt travel.
Given the potential for extreme weather, the government has identified various risks, such as flooding, tidal flooding, and infrastructure damage due to heavy rain.
As a mitigation measure, the government has prepared a special emergency response unit, or Disaster Relief Unit (DRU), ready to respond quickly in the event of damage to facilities or infrastructure due to a disaster.
This unit is tasked with carrying out emergency repairs so that transportation routes can be restored as quickly as possible. Coordination is also being carried out with the Ministry of Transportation to ensure the readiness of all modes of transportation during the Eid homecoming period.
The government is also ensuring the readiness of train, ship, and air services beyond land transportation.
