inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Customs and Excise of West Kalimantan Regional Office successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2.7 million illegal cigarettes of various brands in Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan.

According to an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday (8/11/2026), the case began when the Customs and Excise team received an information on Sunday (8/11/2026) about a shipment of illegal cigarettes from Java to Kalimantan using a fleet of expedition trucks transported by ship.

Using this information, officers then tracked two trucks that left Dwikora Port, Pontianak, at 6:15 p.m. and headed to the unloading location.

On Monday morning (8/10/2026), officers raided the warehouse. They found 20 packages of illegal cigarettes that had been transferred to a pickup truck and another 155 packages in the truck.

The illegal cigarettes found were bearing excise stamps that did not comply with regulations, such as plain excise stamps, which are suspected to be counterfeit.

The total value of the illegal cigarettes reached IDR 4.076 billion, with potential state losses of IDR 2.657 billion saved.

All evidence has been secured at the West Kalimantan Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise for further investigation into alleged excise violations.
