inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jakarta branch is providing free food packages for people who donate blood during Ramadan, especially five days before and after Eid al-Fitr.

This measure was taken because the number of donors has decreased due to many people returning home for Eid, while the need for blood remains high, at around 1,000–1,200 bags per day.

PMI Jakarta Chairman Beky Mardani stated that the incentives are provided in the form of goodie bags containing basic foods to attract public interest.

"During Ramadan, there is usually a decrease in the number of donors, even though the need for blood remains the same," said the PMI Jakarta Chairman on Wednesday (3/18/2026).

To anticipate stock shortages, PMI is intensifying blood donation activities in five areas of Jakarta throughout Ramadan.

PMI hopes this measure will ensure a safe blood supply and anticipate sudden spikes in demand.
