Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Forensic doctors at Bali Mandara Hospital have concluded that Brazilian national Juliana Marins (27), who died while trekking Mount Rinjani in West Nusa Tenggara province, suffered fatal blunt force trauma.
“Forensic findings show widespread abrasions consistent with impact from blunt objects during a fall,” said Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Alit on Friday (27/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
He added that Juliana sustained multiple fractures to her spine, chest, back, and femur, with the most severe injuries on her back.
The trauma caused massive internal bleeding, particularly in the chest cavity, leading to rapid death.
“There’s no evidence she survived long after the injuries occurred,” Dr. Alit explained.
Though hypothermia had been speculated as a possible cause, he said it couldn't be confirmed due to the body being stored in a freezer before autopsy. Toxicology results are pending.
Juliana fell on 21 June 2025 while attempting to reach Mount Rinjani’s summit via Cemara Nunggal trail. External examination began on Thursday at 10.05 pm. local time, followed by a full autopsy.
