inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police  officially launched the Sumsel Bhayangkara Run 2026, in commemoration of the 80th Bhayangkara Day.

This national-scale event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 12, 2026), with the starting and finishing points at the Jakabaring Sport City (JSC) area in Palembang.

The route for the Sumsel Bhayangkara Run 2026 is specially designed to pass through several iconic landmarks of Palembang, including the Ampera Bridge and the South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters.

More than just a sporting event, this event aims to introduce the charm of South Sumatra's tourist destinations to participants from within and outside the region.

South Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho stated that this event is a concrete manifestation of the institution's close relationship with the community.

"We invite all elements to participate, from the general public, our colleagues from the Indonesian Military  (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), students, and athletes," Sandi invited.

There are three race categories: 5 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 21 kilometers (half marathon). The Director of Public Order for the South Sumatra Regional Police, who also serves as the Chair of the South Sumatra Bhayangkara Run 2026 Committee, Senior Superintendent M. Rendra Salipu, emphasized that all aspects of participant safety and comfort are top priorities.

"We have thoroughly prepared for the event day, from safe traffic engineering when crossing the Ampera Bridge to the placement of water stations and the presence of a medical team along the route. Our focus is to ensure the smooth running of the event and ensure the safety of runners until the finish line," explained Rendra.

The Head of Public Relations for the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, emphasized that this event reflects the institution's commitment to being a friend to the community.

"Through this Bhayangkara Run, we want to celebrate the police's historic day with a spirit of togetherness and promote a healthy lifestyle. We hope that public enthusiasm will surpass the success of a similar event in 2023, thus having a real positive impact on the revival of MSMEs and tourism in Palembang," said Nandang.

The 2026 South Sumatra Bhayangkara Run is expected to be more than just a showcase of speed, but also a tangible manifestation of synergy and harmony between the police and the community.
