Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police uncovered dozens of dangerous drug distribution cases during the period from January to July, arresting ninety-two suspects and confiscating more than one hundred thousand Schedule G prescription pills.

Head of Central Jakarta Police, Senior Superintendent Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, said that the operations were conducted jointly by the resort police and local sector offices to curb illegal pharmaceutical sales threatening public health.

"Through these operations, we secured ninety-two suspects, comprising ninety-one men and one woman, and seized over one hundred thousand dangerous pills of various types," he explained during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday (31/7/2026).

He noted that Tanah Abang District recorded the highest number of cases, accounting for thirty-five cases and forty-one suspects. During July alone, police issued fourteen official investigation reports involving sixteen suspects linked to similar offenses, according to antaranews.com.

Confiscation yields included tens of thousands of tramadol, eximer, Double Y, and trihexyphenidyl pills, alongside thousands of merlozepam, nova, alprazolam, and other regulated medications.

The suspects are accused of distributing pharmaceutical products that fail to meet safety, efficacy, utility, and quality standards under Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health,  carrying prison sentences ranging from five to twelve years.
