Unit 2, Sub-Directorate 1 of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate, uncovered a clandestine narcotics lab in Central Jakarta on Friday evening (4/17/2026). During the operation, police arrested a suspected perpetrator identified as R (25).

Head of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate, Police Assistant Superintendent Indah Hartantiningrum, stated that the operation was conducted at around 10:30 PM after they received information from the public regarding suspicious activity suspected to be related to narcotics abuse. 

Following on the investigation, the team successfully apprehended the suspect in an apartment unit in the Salemba area, which was being used as a production site.

"During the search, evidence was found including 5 kg of synthetic tobacco ready for distribution, marijuana, 235 grams of synthetic tobacco seeds, and several pieces of production equipment, such as an electric stove, vessels, alcohol bottles, and a sprayer," she explained on Sunday (4/19/2026).

He stated that investigators also found ready-to-use packaging, plastic clips, and digital scales suspected of being used in the distribution process. The suspect and the evidence were then secured and taken to the police HQ for further investigation.

"The method of selling synthetic tobacco narcotics is through social media accounts linked by the seller and the buyer," he explained.
