Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Corrections has officially denied the authenticity of a viral video claiming to show "luxury" prison cells and illegal mobile phone use at Cilegon Prison.
The 30-second clip, which circulated on social media, depicted inmates resting on patterned mattresses and charging mobile devices in a room resembling a high-end cell.
"The Head of Cilegon Prison has confirmed that the content in that social media video is not part of the Cilegon Prison facilities," said Rika Aprianti, the Head of the Ditjenpas Cooperation Sub-directorate, in Jakarta on Thursday (14/5/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
She emphasized that all inmates receive equal treatment and facilities. While the Directorate General of Corrections continues to monitor the situation, she maintain that no special privileges exist.
The Directorate General of Corrections recently launched a national "Zero Halinar" pledge aimed at eliminating phones, extortion, and drugs within the prison system. Officials warned that any staff found facilitating such violations would face severe disciplinary action.
