Inp.polri.go.id - Nabire.   The Damai Cartenz Task Force is investigating the fatal attack on two Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officers by the armed criminal group (KKB) led by Aibon Kogoya in Distrik Siriwo, Nabire Regency, Central Papua Tengah, on Wednesday.

Brigadier General  Faizal Ramadhani, the Damai Cartenz Task Force Commander, vowed on Thursday (14/8/2025) to take firm action to pursue the perpetrators. Security forces are intensifying operations along the Trans Nabire–Paniai route to prevent further incidents.

The victims, Brigadier Muhammad Arif Maulana (34) and Second Brigadier Nelson Runaki (26), were gunned down around 10.50 am local time while on duty. Witnesses reported seeing two armed men with long rifles, dreadlocks, and shorts descending from a nearby hill before the shooting.

The attackers seized two AK-101 rifles, six magazines, and a bulletproof vest. Evidence collected at the scene included nine 7.62 mm and nine 5.56 mm bullet casings, two mobile phones, a headset, and a projectile from Brigadier Arif’s body.

Police urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with authorities to maintain regional security. The victims’ bodies have been handed over to their families for burial.
