Inp.polri.go.id - Jayawijaya. The Damai Cartenz Task Force and the Jayawijaya Sub P-regional Police launched an immediate response following a fatal shooting that killed three Jayawijaya Regency Agriculture Office officers in Muliama Village, Muliama District, Highland Papua, on Wednesday afternoon (9/9/2026).

The incident occurred at approximately 3.53 pm local time as an 11-person delegation returned to Wamena after inspecting paddy field development projects in Muliama District. An armed group intercepted the convoy and separated the eight indigenous Papuan members, including a young child, from three non-indigenous agricultural officials before opening fire on the three officials.

The three deceased victims were identified as 24-year-old female staff member WB, who suffered a gunshot wound to her right waist and passed away at RSUD Wamena Regional General Hospital; 49-year-old female Head of Livestock Division AR, who died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the abdomen; and 35-year-old male staff member AAM, who also died at the scene from gunshot wounds to the back of his head and left arm.

Joint security forces secured the crime scene, combed the area around the Muliama Health Center, and brought eight surviving witnesses in for questioning. Preliminary investigations suspect an armed criminal group (KKB) originating from the Nduga region executed the ambush.

Head of Damai Cartenz Task Forrce Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani condemned the violence against unarmed civilians and pledged a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

Deputy Head of Damai Cartenz Task Force Senior Superintendent Adarma Sinaga urged residents across Jayawijaya Regency to remain calm, rely on official security reports, and resist unverified online provocations.
