inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago confirmed that the government continues its efforts to protect Indonesian citizens (WNI) in the Middle East, which is in the middle of a war.

"The government is making concrete efforts to provide maximum protection to Indonesian citizens, while ensuring that the safety of citizens remains a top priority amidst the dynamics of international conflict," said the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs on Wednesday (March 11, 2026).

The first wave of 22 Indonesian citizens were successfully repatriated to Indonesia after traveling by air via transit in Baku, Azerbaijan, before finally arriving in Jakarta.

Djamari credited this success to the efforts of the government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Indonesian representatives in the region, who continuously monitored the security situation in the Middle East and ensured that the evacuation process was safe and coordinated.

He also commended the steps taken by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all related elements in the evacuation process and assured that all government elements would continue to increase monitoring in the Middle East to ensure the safety of Indonesian citizens there.

"The government also urges Indonesian citizens in conflict zones in the Middle East to continue coordinating with local Indonesian representatives to ensure their safety and a smooth repatriation process," said Djamari
