The South Sumatra Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate, along with the East Sumatra Customs and Excise (Sumbagtim) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) Narcotics Investigation Center (NIC) Task Force, successfully thwarted a narcotics trafficking attempt in a 48-hour joint operation.
In a disclosure released on Saturday (6/13/2026), officers seized 11,443 ecstasy pills and 1,399.47 grams of methamphetamine, which were suspected of being distributed to several areas in South Sumatra.
The Director of the South Sumatra Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate, Senior Superintendent Yulian Perdana, revealed that during the operation, officers arrested a suspect identified as PB, who is suspected of supplying the narcotics.
"The evidence seized included 11,443 ecstasy pills and nearly 1.4 kilograms of methamphetamine, which were planned to be distributed to several potential areas in South Sumatra," said Yulian Perdana.
The case began with the arrest of a suspect at a boarding house in the PTC area of Palembang. At that location, the team found thousands of ecstasy pills prepared for distribution. Based on the initial investigation, officers then conducted a follow-up investigation using a controlled delivery method to identify the distribution channels and networks involved.
The investigation led officers to two different locations: Lahat Regency and Empat Lawang Regency. In Lahat, officers found 309.47 grams of methamphetamine packaged for shipment, while in Empat Lawang, another 1,090 grams of methamphetamine was found using the same distribution pattern. The network was known to utilize courier services to disguise drug shipments to several areas with high plantation and mining activity.
According to Yulian, the investigation also revealed the suspect's connection to a fugitive with the initials A, who is suspected of controlling the network from Ogan Ilir Regency.
Furthermore, through coordination with the NIC Task Force, officers successfully apprehended a recipient of the narcotics packages in Bogor, West Java.
"The investigation will continue to expand to pursue all parties involved, including couriers, suppliers, and network controllers, so that this drug trafficking can be disrupted at its roots," stated Yulian Perdana.
