Inp.polri.go.id - Sangatta. East Kutai Sub-regional Police have urged residents not to engage in football betting or online gambling during the FIFA World Cup 2026, warning that such activities are illegal and harmful.
“The World Cup should be a moment of unity and entertainment, not gambling. We call on the community to resist offers of instant profit through betting,” said East Kutai Police Chief Superintendent Fauzan Arianto on Wednesday (10/6/2026).
He noted that technology has made gambling more accessible, with many starting small but later suffering financial losses, debt, and even criminal involvement. Police will increase monitoring and enforcement against gambling activities during the tournament.
Chief Fauzan also encouraged local residents to report suspected gambling and instead enjoy the World Cup through positive activities such as community viewing events. He police emphasized that cooperation is vital to maintain public order and ensure the tournament is celebrated safely.
