inp.polri.go.id - Lampung. Facing the threat of the dry season influenced by the El Niño phenomenon, the Lampung Regional Police are strengthening the preparedness of all cross-sector forces to anticipate forest and land fires.

In the Lampung Regional Police Chief's address, read by the Vice Chief of Police, Brigadier General Sumarto, it was emphasized that the El Niño phenomenon must be responded to with maximum preparedness through strengthened early detection, integrated patrols, rapid response to every hotspot, and ongoing public education to prevent fires from spreading.

According to data from the Lampung Regional Police's Lancang Kuning Dashboard, from January 1 to July 30, 2026, 1,070 hotspots were monitored, consisting of 1,005 medium-confidence points and 43 high-confidence points.

This data serves as the basis for determining security priorities in several vulnerable areas, such as Way Kanan, East Lampung, Central Lampung, Tulang Bawang, and North Lampung.

In addition to deploying personnel, the police are ensuring the readiness of all facilities and infrastructure for forest and land fire mitigation, including reservoirs, water cannons, water tankers, pumps, and other supporting equipment.

The use of technology through the Indonesian National Police's Lancang Kuning Dashboard, the Ministry of Forestry's SIPONGI (Forest and Land Fire Monitoring System), and the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) hotspot data continues to be optimized to accelerate detection and early response in the field.

Sumarto emphasized that success in preventing forest and land fires can only be achieved through synergy across the nation.

"Preparedness is not merely a ceremonial activity, but a real commitment to protecting the community and the environment. All personnel must be able to act quickly, strengthen collaboration with all stakeholders, and prioritize prevention as the primary step to prevent forest and land fires early," he emphasized.

He added that the Lampung Regional Police will not only prioritize preventive measures through public outreach and education, but will also enforce the law professionally, firmly, and fairly against any perpetrators of forest and land fires to protect public safety and environmental sustainability.
