inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon hopes that Indonesian music can become a cultural frontliner on the international stage, just as a number of countries utilize music as a force for cultural diplomacy or soft power.
"We hope that Indonesian music can become a cultural frontliner on the international stage. Like other countries that use music as soft power, we also hope that an 'Indonesian wave' will emerge from our music," said the Minister of Culture on Tuesday (March 10, 2026).
The commemoration, which falls every March 9th, carries the theme "Nada Nusantara, Resonansi Dunia," which emphasizes the richness of Indonesian music rooted in the diversity of Indonesian culture and encourages the work of Indonesian musicians to be recognized on the global stage.
The Minister of Culture stated that Indonesian music has great potential to become a cultural force in the world. According to him, the richness of Indonesian music is reflected in the nation's cultural diversity.
Indonesia has 1,340 ethnic groups and hundreds of traditional musical instruments that have served as a source of inspiration for the development of music, both traditional and contemporary.
"Indonesian music, from traditional to contemporary, has enormous potential for continued development. We hope the ecosystem will improve through collaboration between musicians, artists, cultural figures, and the government at various levels," explained the Minister of Culture.
The government, he said, also continues to pay attention to the preservation and development of traditional music, one of which is through the National Talent Management program, to ensure that traditional music remains preserved and recognized by the younger generation.
