Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government has reiterated that the safety of the Indonesian "Garuda Contingent" serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) remains its highest priority as Israeli military strikes continue to intensify across the region.

"The government is closely monitoring the evolving situation and its impact on the Garuda Contingent, ensuring that the protection of our peacekeepers remains the paramount focus in this volatile environment," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a written release on Sunday (15/3/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.

The Ministry expressed grave concern over recent artillery strikes on UNIFIL outposts, including incidents on 14 March 2026 that injured personnel from other troop-contributing countries. Indonesia emphasized that under international law, all conflicting parties are legally responsible for the security of UN personnel and property.

Despite the dangerous conditions, with tensions spreading from the "Blue Line" to the capital city of Beirut, the Indonesian government lauded the professionalism of its troops in maintaining their peacekeeping mandate and continues to coordinate with UN headquarters to mitigate operational risks.
