inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Yudi Purnomo Harahap supports the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s efforts to uncover alleged corruption in the supply of coal to several coal-fired power plants (PLTUs), which has resulted in state losses of up to IDR 5 trillion.
According to Yudi, these losses are not only tangible losses to the state but also pose significant social costs, as the public is also affected by the power outages in Sumatra and Java. This situation has resulted in losses for various businesses and disrupted daily activities.
Yudi suspects that there are intellectual actors behind the alleged corruption, given the massive irregularities occurring at several PLTUs.
He believes the perpetrators are solely concerned with personal gain without considering the impact on society, which triggers the urge in punishing the perpetrators according to applicable law. He also hopes that all witnesses will cooperate in the investigation.
For Yudi, who has handled several major cases at KPK, such as the Century Bank case and the e-KTP project, the involvement of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) will further strengthen the work of investigators from the police in uncovering the beneficiaries of alleged coal supply corruption through a "follow the money" approach.
This step is also crucial for tracing and pursuing the assets of the perpetrators of corruption as part of efforts to recover state losses.
According to him, the investigation of this case can also address public astonishment over the recent electricity blackout.
