The Indonesian government has decided to provide 10 kilograms of additional rice assistance to 33.244 million recipients nationwide for three months, starting July 2026 in a bid to maintain public purchasing power during the upcoming dry season and amidst global food price fluctuations.

Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said on Tuesday (9/6/2026) that the current government stock of 5.2 million tons remains sufficient to cover the social safety net initiative that requires approximately 1 million tons of rice. 

"Therefore, we are extending the rice or food assistance for three months," ge saud. "July will be the first month, while the other two months will be determined later by the Minister of Agriculture and the State Logistics Agency."

The Ministry of Social Affairs will manage the distribution using verified recipient data, supported by budget coordination with the National Food Agency (Bappenas).
