Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Agriculture and National Food Agency (Bapanas) Head Andi Amran Sulaiman guaranteed on Thursday (22/1/2025) that Indonesia's strategic food reserves are more than sufficient to meet demand through the fasting month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr 2026.
Following a high-level coordination meeting with stakeholders and the Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Food Task Force, the government confirmed national rice stocks have hit a historic record of 3.3 million tons this January.
"There is no reason for prices to rise, as all involved parties have agreed not to sell our strategic food above the retail price ceiling," Minister Amran said, warning of strict enforcement against price gouging.
To ensure market stability, the Food Task Force will monitor prices for essential commodities, including cooking oil and poultry, as reported by antaranews.com.
While current poultry prices sit slightly below production costs, officials expect a natural correction during the holy month.
