Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono has reassured the public that Indonesia’s national food supply remains secure despite the escalating geopolitical tensions between Iran and the United States.
Speaking in Jakarta on Thursday (12/3/2026), he said that domestic productivity and strategic stock management have positioned food security as a resilient pillar during this period of global uncertainty.
"So far, our food supply is safe. We have achieved self-sufficiency, and our productivity is stable. Food is a vital pillar, especially in difficult situations, and our current stocks show no issues," Deputy Minister Sudaryono said, as cited by antaranews.com.
He noted that for commodities that still require importation, such as wheat, the government has successfully diversified its sourcing to include regions unaffected by the conflict, specifically citing imports from the United States.
The ministry has said that current reserves are sufficient to meet national needs for the next 324 days. This calculation includes approximately 3.7 million tons of rice managed by Perum Bulog, over 12 million tons in the hotel, restaurant, and cafe sectors, and an estimated 10–11 million tons from ongoing "standing crops" in agricultural fields.
