inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the government is accelerating the construction of damaged bridges in various villages to meet the community's basic infrastructure needs.

"The thousands of bridges we have built are bridges that are felt by the people," Prabowo said in his speech at the Bahlil Lahadalia Book Launch and Review event in Jakarta on Friday.

According to Prabowo, the limited budget of village governments is not optimal for addressing basic infrastructure needs, including the construction of damaged bridges.

"We have provided village funds; it has been running for 10 years. 1 billion rupiah per village, one year. A bridge in a village costs an average of 400 million rupiah, 700 million rupiah, 800 million rupiah. The larger ones might cost 2 billion rupiah, 3 billion rupiah," Prabowo said.

He said the central government prefers to take direct action to address public complaints regarding infrastructure needs, rather than blame each other across levels of government.

"If governors, regents, sub-district heads, or village heads cannot address the people's demands in the village, we will not hesitate. The President will intervene, and we will fulfill the people's demands," Prabowo said.

The President revealed that the construction of village bridges currently underway in various regions of Indonesia has reached nearly 2,500 units.

He also stated that the government continues to accelerate improvements to the education sector by renovating tens of thousands of school buildings by the end of 2026.

Furthermore, the government plans to renovate all public health centers in Indonesia, which have not been renovated for decades.

Prabowo believes that the acceleration of infrastructure development is part of the government's work orientation, which prioritizes the interests of the community.
