inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government is preparing to strengthen the public complaints mechanism to support public oversight of services in the legal, human rights, immigration, and correctional sectors, following the emergence of a number of alleged corruption cases that have attracted public attention.

Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra stated that the government is considering establishing a special unit to handle public complaints within the ministries under his coordination.

"We will try to figure out how to have a bureau or a section specifically handling public complaints," said Yusril on Monday (6/8/2026).

According to him, the unit will not act directly on reports received, but will instead serve to collect public complaints and forward them to the relevant ministries for follow-up through internal oversight mechanisms.

"We will collect these complaints, and we will convey them to each ministry to resolve the issues internally," said Yusril.

He further explained that strengthening complaint channels is part of efforts to improve bureaucratic governance and boost oversight following allegations of irregularities in a number of public services.

In addition to internal oversight, the government is also opening up external oversight by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), and law enforcement officials.

Meanwhile, Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto stated that his ministry has prepared complaint channels for the public and foreign nationals who encounter alleged irregularities in immigration services.

"We have also prepared complaint channels in case there are irregularities in the field," said Agus.

He revealed that a number of cases uncovered in the immigration sector actually stemmed from information and input from the public, including from service agencies and sponsors directly involved in the immigration document processing process.

The government hopes that strengthening complaint channels and public involvement will accelerate the detection of irregularities, increase transparency in public services, and strengthen bureaucratic accountability in the legal, human rights, immigration, and correctional sectors.
