Minister Transfers Corruption Convict to Nusakambangan Island After Coffee Shop Visit
Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Immigration and Correctional Affairs Agus Andrianto has transferred corruption convict Supriadi to a maximum-security prison in Nusakambangan prison island after he was filmed visiting a coffee shop in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.
The incident occurred while the former Kolaka Port Authority Head was returning from a judicial review hearing.
"I have already moved the violator to Nusakambangan," Minister Agus said in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
Regarding the accompanying officers, he added, "We are taking action against the staff for negligence; they must be held accountable."
As a result, Kendari Detention Center Head Rikie Umbaran has been dismissed from his post to facilitate an internal investigation. The escorting officers have also been reassigned pending disciplinary action.
Supriadi is currently serving a five-year sentence for a corruption case involving illegal nickel shipments that caused Rp 233 billion in state losses. Following the breach, the Minister is drafting a circular requiring police escorts for all inmates attending court.
