inp.polri.go.id - Sleman. The Yogyakarta Regional Police held a two-day low-cost market on August 26 and 27, 2026, at the Regional Police Headquarters yard, providing 1,200 packages to the local community at lower prices than market prices.

The Head of Public Relations of the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ihsan, explained on Wednesday (8/26/2026) that the Low-Cost Market Movement was held to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence and is a routine monthly activity.

"This is to help people obtain the daily supplies at more affordable prices, or at prices lower than those available in the market," he explained.

According to Ihsan, the activity also aims to support food security and availability in Yogyakarta, which is expected to help reduce inflation.

"This activity will be the first of its kind, held on two days, Wednesday and Thursday," he added.

Every day, the Yogyakarta Regional Police provide 600 basic food packages consisting of various food commodities, such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

The public can purchase these packages using coupons or by coming directly to the event location.

"We provide coupons for some, and we also serve people who come in. The main reason for the coupons is to ensure orderliness," he said.

The Yogyakarta Regional Police are limiting the number of food packages purchased to ensure more equitable distribution and to prevent those who might exploit the situation for their own gain.
