Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) closed sharply lower on Friday (24/4/2026), dropping 249.12 points or 3.38 percent to finish at 7,129.49. Market sentiment was heavily pressured by soaring global energy costs and stalled diplomatic negotiations between the United States and Iran, which continue to disrupt shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
"Asian regional markets mostly weakened as rising oil prices dampened sentiment amid the stagnation of peace talks and ongoing disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz," said Maximilianus Nico Demus, the Associate Director at Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, as cited by antaranews.com.
He said that persistent supply uncertainties have kept energy prices high, fueling concerns over global inflation.
Domestic factors further weighed on the index after Fitch Ratings revised the credit outlook for the four largest banks on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from stable to negative. All eleven sectors on the exchange ended in the red, with non-primary consumer goods and infrastructure suffering the steepest declines.
