Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Immigration is scheduled to deport 13 Japanese citizens this Wednesday following their involvement in an organized online scamming syndicate operating out of Bogor, West Java.
"Their deportation is set for Wednesday, with Indonesian immigration officers and Japanese authorities coordinating their return to face further legal action," said Arief Eka Riyanto, the Head of the Immigration Supervision Sub-directorate, on Monday (13/4/2026), as reported by antaranews.com..
The group was detained during a raid in Sentul City, where investigators discovered they had been impersonating Japanese police officers to defraud victims via encrypted messaging apps. While one suspect entered using a visa on arrival, 12 others misused pre-investment visas to facilitate their illicit activities.
Authorities seized evidence showing the suspects utilized fraudulent websites and fake arrest warrants to intimidate victims into transferring significant funds. This enforcement action is part of the broader "Operation Wirawaspada 2026," which has identified 346 foreigners for various immigration violations across the country this month.
