inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services, prosecuted 346 foreign nationals during Operation Wirawaspada, which ran from April 7-11, 2026.
Of the 346 foreign nationals suspected of violating immigration laws, 183 were from China, followed by 21 from Pakistan, 20 from Nigeria, and 13 from Japan.
"The most common type of violation found was misuse of stay permits, accounting for 214 cases, or approximately 61 percent of the total violations," said Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko on Monday (4/13/2026).
Hendarsam explained that the Directorate General of Immigration is tasked with monitoring and enforcing the law against foreign nationals in and entering Indonesia.
The Directorate General of Immigration conducts Operation Wirawaspada 2026 annually as part of its immigration law enforcement activities to ensure the implementation of the "selective policy."
"Only foreigners who benefit the state and do not endanger security and public order are entitled to remain in Indonesian territory, and we also ensure that foreigners' stay permits are obtained and used appropriately," explained Hendarsam.
To ensure this selective policy, Hendarsam has conducted 2,449 activities in Operation Wirawaspada 2026, which were implemented simultaneously across all 151 immigration work units throughout Indonesia.
He stated that immigration violations that will be prosecuted include misuse of stay permits, providing inaccurate information, and various other legal violations that could disrupt security and order in Indonesia.
"In addition to misuse of residence permits, 24 cases of overstaying, 17 fictitious investors, and various other administrative violations were also discovered, such as failing to present travel documents or addresses that did not match those on residence permits," he explained.
Hendarsam further stated that this operation examined foreign nationals from 36 countries. The foreign nationals caught in the operation are currently undergoing investigation and will undergo further investigation and immigration legal proceedings in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Directorate General of Immigration, he said, continues to collaborate with all relevant parties to maintain national security and ensure just law enforcement.
