Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government issued a fierce condemnation on Thursday (9/4/2026) against Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple regions in Lebanon, including Beirut, which have resulted in massive civilian casualties and the widespread destruction of infrastructure.
"These attacks constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law and risk igniting a regional escalation that threatens global security," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said via its official social media channels, as cited by antaranews.com.
The escalation reached a critical point on Wednesday with the largest wave of airstrikes since March, reportedly killing at least 254 people. The violence erupted despite a recently announced two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
While Tehran insisted the truce should cover Lebanon, U.S. President Donald Trump has characterized the situation as a "separate conflict." In response, Indonesia has demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities and called on all parties to prioritize dialogue and the protection of non-combatants to prevent further destabilization of the Middle East.
