Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly denied claims that Indonesia has held any form of discussion with Israel regarding the evacuation of Gaza residents.
“Indonesia has never conducted talks with Israel,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela in a written statement on Thursday (14/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The statement responded to media reports alleging that Israel was negotiating with five countries, including Indonesia, to receive Palestinians from Gaza. The other four mentioned were Somaliland, Uganda, South Sudan, and Libya.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono earlier explained that Indonesia is considering several locations, including Pulau Galang in the Riau Islands, to host Palestinians needing medical treatment, but stressed that the plan would only proceed with approval from the Palestinian side.
Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir reaffirmed that any evacuation effort must align with regional consensus and Arab League resolutions.
