Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday to discuss strategic energy cooperation, prompting state-owned firm Pertamina to prepare for potential crude oil imports.
"As the state-owned enterprise managing national energy, Pertamina will follow up according to the directives and regulations set by the government," said Pertamina Corporate Communication Vice President Muhammad Baron on Tuesday (14/4/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The high-level diplomacy aims to secure domestic supply amidst global market volatility by leveraging Russian energy production. Minister of Energy and MIneral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia confirmed that the discussions focused on concrete national interests, including refinery development, oil trade strengthening, and clean energy technology collaboration to support long-term diversification.
State energy company PT Pertamina is currently evaluating the technical compatibility of Russian crude grades with its domestic refineries. Following recent modernization efforts, the company expects increased flexibility to process diverse crude types while strictly adhering to international compliance, operational prudence, and commercial viability standards to ensure sustainable national energy resilience.
