inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia reaffirmed its position as a center of volleyball development in Asia. This was marked by the Drawing & Press Conference for the 2026 AVC Men's Champions League at the Le Meridien Hotel in Jakarta on Sunday (3/15/2026).

This event marked the start of a series of prestigious international tournaments that will bring together the best men's volleyball clubs from various countries in Asia.

Several important figures were also present at the event, including the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir; the President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), Ramon Suzara; the Chief Business Officer of Volleyball World, Guido Betti; the President of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI), Imam Sudjarwo; and the Chairman of the Police Volleyball Association and Manager of Bhayangkara Presisi, Pipit Rismanto.

The international tournament is scheduled to take place from May 13–17, 2026. Unlike previous tournaments, the main stage for this year's elite Asian club competition will be held at the Ahmad Yani Integrated Sports Hall in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

The selection of Pontianak as the host city was not without reason. Besides a token of appreciation for the high level of enthusiasm from local spectators, this decision also demonstrates the growing maturity of regulatory support and sponsorship in the region for hosting international-level sporting events. Hosting the event outside of Jakarta is expected to broaden the excitement and equitable development of volleyball across Indonesia.

On the occasion, Pipit Rismanto emphasized that this significant momentum truly belongs to the athletes, especially the Bhayangkara Presisi family. He believes the players' hard work and extensive experience on the field are crucial factors in bringing world-class competitions like the AVC Men's Champions League back to Indonesia.

"The achievements we have achieved have not only brought trophies to the trophy cabinet, but also inspired millions of young people in various regions who are currently practicing volleyball in their villages," Pipit said.

Meanwhile, Erick Thohir emphasized the importance of maintaining international standards to enhance the marketability of national sports on the global stage. He hopes this event can serve as a stepping stone for Indonesian athletes to continue improving their achievements at the global level.
