Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has secured a commitment from Russia for 150 million barrels of crude oil at a discounted price following President Prabowo Subianto’s recent diplomatic visit to Moscow to stabilize the national economy and ensure energy reserves amid escalating global fuel prices and supply disruptions.
"Indonesia now has a commitment from the Russian government; we can store 150 million barrels in Indonesia to face economic volatility," said Hashim Djojohadikusumo, the Special Envoy of the President for Energy and the Environment and the President’s brother, on Thursday (23/4/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
He explained that the agreement was finalized after a three-hour meeting between President Prabowo and President Vladimir Putin on 13 April 2026.
The strategic partnership serves as a crucial energy alternative as tensions between the US-Israel and Iran continue to destabilize global markets. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia confirmed that shipments are targeted to begin this month, while negotiations for Russian LPG imports are currently being finalized to further diversify Indonesia’s energy sources.
