Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government issued a formal demand on Wednesday (8/4/2026) for the United Nations to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the series of attacks targeting Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers serving with the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
"The Indonesian government has noted the preliminary investigation results and insists that the UN complete a thorough inquiry to ensure full accountability," said Veronica Rompis, the Acting Director for International Peace and Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a media briefing, as reported by antaranews.com.
The request followed a tragic timeline where three Indonesian peacekeepers lost their lives in two separate incidents in March and one in April this year.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang said that Indonesia is prioritizing the safety of its remaining personnel in the region while demanding that those responsible for the attacks be brought to justice. To date, three TNI members have been killed and eight others wounded while fulfilling their peacekeeping mandates.
