The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel discussed strengthening law enforcement cooperation to address transnational crime during a meeting at INP Headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday (7/23/2026).
"International cooperation is a crucial factor in supporting law enforcement," said INP Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, as quoted in an official statement.
Chief Sigit stated that global dynamics have given rise to various forms of transnational crime, such as cybercrime, terrorism, and human trafficking (TPPO), which exploit technological advances and transcend national jurisdictions.
Therefore, INP is committed to strengthening collaboration with the FBI through information exchange, personnel capacity building, and joint operations in accordance with applicable regulations.
"International cooperation is a crucial factor in supporting law enforcement," he said.
During the hearing, the two sides discussed a number of strategic issues, including the threat of fentanyl and precursor trafficking, combating online fraud and cybercrime networks, strengthening investigative cooperation, and exchanging intelligence.
The meeting also discussed personnel capacity development through various training programs conducted by the FBI, including at the FBI Academy.
Furthermore, INP and FBI agreed to expedite the handling of fugitives subject to Interpol Red Notices and to strengthen cooperation mechanisms in cross-border law enforcement.
The Chief of INP expressed his appreciation for the cooperative relationship between the POLRI and the FBI, which has existed since 2014, particularly in information exchange, human resource capacity building, and support for law enforcement.
Meanwhile, FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized his agency's commitment to continuing to strengthen cooperation with INP in eradicating terrorism, narcotics, cybercrime, and various forms of transnational crime through a closer, more concrete, and sustainable approach.
