Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has directed all regional police heads to develop and implement a "panic button" mobile application to protect ride-hailing drivers from rising street crime.
The instruction, issued Sunday (8/3/2026) during a security gathering in Palembang, South Sumatra, aims to provide an emergency response system for drivers vulnerable to violent robberies and assaults while operating.
"In order to protect online motorcycle taxi drivers who may become victims of violent robbery, I request regional police chiefs to immediately prepare a panic button application," Chief Sigit said, as cited by antaranews.com.
The initiative integrates local police command centers with the driver's GPS location to ensure rapid tactical intervention. Beyond digital safety, the INP committed to establishing dedicated rest areas and free maintenance facilities for the driver community across Indonesia.
