inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo predicts that the peak of the 2026 Eid homecoming (mudik) traffic will occur in two periods in March.

This was conveyed by the INP Chief during a cross-sectoral coordination meeting for Operation Ketupat 2026 at the PTIK Building, South Jakarta, Monday (3/2/2026).

Sigit explained that this prediction was based on a survey conducted by the Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) and the Ministry of Transportation, as well as a comparison with the actual number of travelers in 2025.

"The predicted peak of the (first) homecoming traffic will likely occur between March 14 and 15," Sigit said.

After the first return period, he said, the government will also implement a Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy on March 16 and 17. Therefore, the second peak is expected to occur on March 18 and 19.

Furthermore, Sigit also reminded all ranks to prepare crossing arrangements to Bali, as the Nyepi Day falls concurrently with Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.

"Therefore, it is necessary to regulate crossings between East Java and Bali in observance of Nyepi Day," said Sigit.

Furthermore, Sigit stated that the peak return flow will occur in two waves, with the first wave on March 24 and 25.

"The second peak return flow is predicted to occur on March 28 and 29, and if necessary, the National Police will carry out further operations with increased routine activities," Sigit concluded.
