inp.polri.go.id - East Java. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo visited the tomb of the fourth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Abdurrahman Wahid, in Jombang Regency, East Java, on Saturday (6/20/2026).

The event was part of a series of events commemorating the 80th Bhayangkara Day, which will be celebrated on July 1, 2026. In addition to honoring the national figure, the visit also served as a moment to commemorate Gus Dur's contributions to the national reform movement, including the strengthening of the police institution.

The Head of INP Public Relations Division, Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that the pilgrimage was a form of respect from the police for national figures who made significant contributions to the journey of democracy and reform in Indonesia.

"This pilgrimage is a form of respect and appreciation from INP to national figures who have made significant contributions to the journey of democracy and reform in Indonesia. Gus Dur played a significant role in our country’s history, including his effort in strengthening our institution as a professional and independent institution," Johnny told reporters.

Gus Dur served as the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia from October 20, 1999, to July 23, 2001. During his tenure, he continued the reform agenda by promoting military professionalism and civilian supremacy in government.

According to Johnny, the visit, which marks the 80th anniversary of Bhayangkara Day, also serves as a reminder for all police personnel to maintain the spirit of reform and professionalism in carrying out their duties as public servants.

Gus Dur's thoughts and policies played a crucial role in establishing INP as a professional, modern, and independent institution.

Through this visit, INP not only pays tribute to a former president but also commemorates the legacy of national thought that has influenced the journey of reform and the strengthening of state institutions to this day.
