inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo led a cross-sectoral coordination meeting on securing and servicing the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return traffic.

One area of particular concern in securing and servicing the homecoming and return traffic is the Banten region. This region will be the hub for travelers from Java crossing to Sumatra.

Sigit explained that traffic engineering and the utilization of three existing ports will be implemented for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return traffic.

"During the green zone at Merak Port, there are seven piers being utilized: pedestrians, four-wheeled vehicles, and so on. In the green zone, queues are normal. In the yellow zone, vehicle queues extend to the Cikuasa Atas gas station. And in the red zone, vehicle queues extend to the Merak Toll Gate," Sigit said.

Sigit added that the same regulations apply to the three piers in the Ciwandan Port area for green, yellow, and red conditions.

Furthermore, at the BBJ Port, specifically for tanker trucks, trailer trucks, and heavy equipment, the same situation is also shared. There's a green status when traffic is smooth, a yellow status when vehicles reach the port entrance, and a red status when the buffer zone at PT SMI and the Ring Road is no longer able to accommodate passengers.

On this occasion, General Sigit stated that, especially during the peak of the homecoming period, he recommended using the first-come, first-in system.

He explained that when travelers purchase their boat tickets and then have to board according to the date on their tickets, there's potential for congestion.

"So, during the peak of the homecoming period, we ask for permission from relevant stakeholders to allow those arriving first to board the boat. Therefore, we also request to form policies related to these matters," he said.

For the record, INP will be conducting Operation Ketupat from March 13 to March 25, 2026. Hundreds of thousands of joint personnel will be deployed to secure and serve the public traveling home for Eid al-Fitr.

Sigit explained that this year's Operation Ketupat tagline is "Safe Homecoming and Happy Families." In its implementation, Sigit said, preemptive and preventive measures, including law enforcement, will be prioritized.
