Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo confirmed that the strategic Merak-Bakauheni crossing remains under control following an aerial survey of the 2026 Eid Al-Fitr homecoming routes.
While queues of motorcycles and cars have begun to form at Merak Port, the overall flow from Jakarta toward the ferry terminals is currently categorized as smooth, aided by favorable weather conditions across the Sunda Strait.
“In general, based on the aerial analysis, it is relatively smooth, and thank God the weather conditions are quite good. If you need police services, please contact the 110 call center, and I have instructed all ranks to respond quickly,” Chief Dedi said on Tuesday (17/3/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The government justified this high-level monitoring as a proactive measure to anticipate a second wave of travelers expected between March 18 and 19. By utilizing aerial data and integrated command centers, the INP regional stakeholders are prepared to implement tactical traffic engineering and escorts at crucial bottlenecks.
Chief Dedi said that while current conditions are stable, the force remains on high alert to ensure public safety as volume is projected to peak again during the upcoming return flow periods in late March.
