inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Narcotics Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (INP), along with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC), thwarted the distribution of 5 kilograms of a new type of narcotic, Etomidate, originating from Malaysia.
This disclosure also led to the discovery of an apartment in North Jakarta suspected of being used by the network as a clandestine laboratory to produce vapes containing Etomidate.
The Director of the Narcotics Crime Directorate of INP, Inspector General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated that the case involved an international network. Seven individuals were arrested: five Malaysian citizens, one Indonesian citizen, and one Chinese citizen.
Eko explained that the disclosure began when five Malaysian nationals were detained by DJBC officers at the Soekarno-Hatta Type C Main Customs and Excise Service Office on Friday (9/25/2026).
The five Malaysian nationals are Mohammad Zulhusni bin Ab Salin, Nur Aisyah binti Abdullah, Emanuel bin Harry, Prince Alvin Robin, and Muhammad Adam bin Julle. They are suspected of acting as couriers.
Meanwhile, a Chinese national named Wu Song is suspected of acting as a courier and also controlling the clandestine lab. An Indonesian citizen, Satria Surya Sumantri, acted as a driver.
The five Malaysian nationals are known to have departed from Kuala Lumpur for Indonesia. Upon arrival at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Customs officers found two packages of powder suspected to be Etomidate, each weighing approximately 500 grams.
The powder was hidden in the insoles of the perpetrators' shoes.
"In total, 10 packages with a gross weight of 5 kg were found. The powder tested positive by Customs and Excise for containing Etomidate," he said.
From questioning the foreign nationals, investigators learned that they were instructed by a woman known only as "Madam" to transport Etomidate from Malaysia to Indonesia.
Communication with "Madam" was conducted via the Telegram app. Upon arrival in Jakarta, the couriers were instructed to gather at the Yello Hotel Harmoni to collect shoes containing Etomidate powder and place them in a red suitcase.
The suitcase was then to be handed over to Wu Song, who is suspected of being another member of the network.
Based on this information, the investigative team conducted a follow-up investigation and arrested Wu Song. Police recovered a key to an apartment in the Mediterania Marina Residence Tower in North Jakarta from him.
Investigators then proceeded to the apartment. A search uncovered several tools and equipment suspected of being used to manufacture Etomidate-type vapes.
"Wu Song has been in Indonesia since September 19, 2026, and lives in two units in the apartment," he said.
During questioning, Wu Song admitted to receiving instructions through the "SIGNAL" communication group to record the inventory of goods in the apartment.
Wu Song also admitted to receiving orders on Friday (9/25/2026) to retrieve the Etomidate narcotics stored in a suitcase in the Yello Hotel Harmoni area of Jakarta.
From the investigation, investigators also obtained information that Mohammad Zulhusni Bin Ab Salin and Nur Aisyah Binti Abdullah had previously shipped Etomidate twice. The first shipment was made from Malaysia to Tokyo for RM7,000, or approximately IDR 30 million based on the current exchange rate.
The second shipment was made from Malaysia to Indonesia for RM9,000, or approximately IDR 30 million to IDR 50 million.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Bin Harry, Princes Alvin Robin, and Muhammad Adam Bin Julle were said to have received work from "Madam" for the first time.
In developing cases, Wu Song admitted to arriving in Indonesia on September 19, 2026, for vacation. However, upon arrival, he was approached by a man who identified himself as Qing.
"Qing spoke in Mandarin and offered Wu free accommodation. He agreed and went with him to the apartment," he explained.
Wu Song admitted that the items later confiscated by investigators had been in the apartment since his arrival. He was tasked with counting the stock, including liquid cans, empty cartridges, and packaging, and then reporting it through a chat group.
Since moving into the apartment, Wu claimed he had never seen anyone come to collect the items.
"Wu was paid 4,000 RM, or around Rp10 million," said Eko.
From the preliminary count, police found 85,000 milliliters of liquid raw material. Assuming a 2 milliliter per pod, this material could potentially yield approximately 42,500 pods.
