inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Headquarters has assured that it will not hesitate to take firm action against any violations committed by its members, especially if those violations result in the loss of life. This statement came following the shooting incident in Makassar.
"Swift and immediate action will be taken against the perpetrator. The Makassar Sub-regional Police Chief has provided us with this information," stated Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of the Public Information Bureau of INP Public Relations Division, on Thursday (3/5/2026).
Trunoyudo explained that the firm action taken by the South Sulawesi Regional Police and the Makassar Sub-regional Police encompasses both criminal and ethical processes.
According to him, a police officer with the initials of N has been named a suspect and is currently being detained at the Makassar Sub-regional Police Headquarters as part of the ongoing legal process.
"And in line with that, the code of ethics will also be enforced against the person concerned," he said.
He also ensured that regular evaluations of firearms use by members are ongoing.
